The project was conceived in terms of further development of the Networks of Excellence concept.
It is oriented towards merging scientific networks with permanent business structures intended to:
- Transfer results available in the research area into practicable technological solutions
- Stimulate further research and development
- Give rise to a novel type of business organization.
The project aims have been realized by the business organization and
virtual enterprise called the SolEuNet, which
- Establishes partnership relations among universities, businesses performing research activities
and research and development departments of industrial companies
- Provides the customers with solutions to practical Data Mining and Decision Support problems
- Offers its clients new services through which they can gain
competitive advantages
Knowledge dissemination, gathering and its mediation to potential users (e.g. through the project web
page) is considered to be an integral part of the virtual enterprise activities.
Educational activities
(seminars and other forms of training) serve as a complementary source of information for the project
members, experts and customers.
Aim of SolEuNet
The objective of SolEuNet is to provide specific solutions for customers using
appropriate methodologies and tools, selected from the wide arsenal of technologies offered by the
Network. SolEuNet offers:
- Practical solutions to Decision Support and Data Mining problems
- Project monitoring and review of existing problem solutions to decrease risk in complex decision
making problems
- Consultancy by highly professional experts in Decision Support and Data Mining
- Education and training in the areas of Decision Support and Data Mining
- Co-operation in joint international research
How it Works
The project has designed and verified a novel type of
virtual enterprise model with the following
features:
- development, real-life testing and evaluation of the virtual enterprise model
- development of software for Internet and Intranet based collaborative work providing methods
for
- collaborative planning and scheduling of resources
- project monitoring
- combining problem solutions and consensus building
- on-line consultation
- development of new and novel educational methods including prototype project workshops
- development and maintenance of an open information source on the web.
